All:
The Whitehall well was repaired last week, but Colorado Water Well
(CWW) was unable to activate it because power had again failed. This is
troublesome because CWW had shut the system down and it was not drawing
any power during this period. CWW is concerned that until Xcel can
conclusively identify what their problem is, we could see further
equipment damage by turning the system back on. CWW says normal pump
motor life expectation is 5-7 years, but the Whitehall and Piedmont
pumps both failed after around 3. CWW will be meeting with Xcel in the
next 24 hours to try to get this resolved.
Independently CWW will be working on the Piedmont pump motor, which
will take another 2-3 days. Because of the power issues, it is unknown
when the system will be turned back on. I have concerns how best to do
this, as we will all have been without water for 3+ weeks when the
system is turned back on. If we all try to use it simultaneously when
it goes back into operation, the system will collapse and no one will
get any water. We are looking at the configuration, storage tank
capacities and production rates to plan a transition back into normal
operation but will need your cooperation.
Cheers,
Mark
