[HollyMutual-Announce] Well problems

All,

While we await the replacement parts for the Whitehall well, we
expected to limp along with only the Piedmont well. As many of you
observed, there has been little or no water since. Over the past few
days I have called CWW to look at Piedmont, but each time they
investigated, they pronounced Piedmont working.

Finally today I asked CWW to turn on the water distribution when they
were at Piedmont and to call me so I could test with my irrigation
system. Piedmont was in fact distributing water, but at a minimal water
pressure. However the pressure gauge at the well read normal pressure.
CWW toured the neighborhood and found no obvious leaks, so they went
back to troubleshoot the well. It turned out that the water pressure
sensor, used by the distribution controller to regulate the pumping
rate, was reading much higher than the actual pressure, causing the
pump to lower its rate to a miniscule amount.

This sensor will need to be replaced, but CWW believes this will likely
be available in town and is a minor matter to fix. I hope to have
better news tomorrow once I can confirm this and the schedule for
fixing the Whitehall well.

Cheers,
Mark Derbyshire
