[HollyMutual-Announce] Well failures

As you have been aware, the wells have been swamped for the last month
or so by heavy water usage. Based on all the data gathered it appeared
that the only way we could be drawing this amount of water was if some
of the irrigation systems were being used outside of their scheduled
times. The net effect was that we frequently lost pressure each night
after the storage tanks were prematurely emptied.
Earlier this week we lost power at the Whitehall well, Xcel determined
that there was a problem in their transformer and they fixed it.
Shortly afterwards we lost power again at Whitehall and Xcel came again
yesterday to fix the problem. According to Colorado Water Well (CWW),
we had tripped no fuses on our side of the power line either time and
this fault was again caused by Xcel.
I got a call last night from CWW while they were in the process of
bringing Whitehall back up after the latest power failure, which was
followed by another call this morning. Both the Whitehall and Piedmont
well pumps have failed and will be have to be pulled to determine what
the problems are. CWW is suspicious because of the virtually
simultaneous and identical failures, but it is premature draw any
conclusions. They do not believe there is any connection to our heavy
water usage.
Regardless, this process will take considerable time and will be
disrupted by the holiday weekend. As it stands, it is doubtful that we
will have any well water before the end of next week. I will update the
Holly Mutual web site when I have some time and will send out status to
this list when we have more definitive information.
Cheers,
Mark Derbyshire
