All:
The primary repair we are pursuing to bring the Whitehall Well back on
line, and restore service to those properties north of Whitehall Dr is
proceeding, but slowly. As part of their estimate, our excavator costed
the stabilization of an Xcel power pole that would be affected by their
planned digging. They are still working to obtain Xcel's sign-off on
this, at least as of today. Having considerable experience dealing with
Xcel, I will attest that speed is not part of their vocabulary. Our
understanding is once all approvals are granted, the work will take only
a day or two.
In the meantime we have been pursuing the cause of a second leak that
was bubbling water out of the same location, when our west pipeline
between Plateau and Whitehall Dr was pressurized. This was particularly
concerning because it cast doubt on our understanding of the primary
leak. Fortunately this was traced to portion of a private irrigation
system that burst over the winter. With that repaired, today we
re-pressurized the line and many hours later we see no evidence of any
leaking. This gives us much higher confidence that our plan to repair
the main leak will work without surprises. It also restored service to
those properties on the west side of our pipeline between Plateau and
Whitehall Dr.
All properties north of Whitehall Dr are still without service, and I am
placing as much pressure as I can on our excavator and Colorado Water
Well to complete the final repairs.
Cheers,
Mark Derbyshire
