[HollyMutual-Announce] Denver Water Backflow Prevention Testing

All:

Denver Water recently sent us their annual reminder to test our backflow
prevention device. I happened to wonder what their policy is under the
COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, so I called them (303 893 2444). As this
likely applies to everyone on the Holly Mutual system, I thought I would
pass on what I learned:

The representative said they understand many of the testing companies
are not working during this period, and that those with backflow
prevention devices within their homes may not want people coming inside
to perform the tests. Thus the testing program is on hold for COVID-19
social distancing. They will not be disconnecting properties that do not
perform the test on-time. The fly in the ointment is they are unable to
stop the reminder/warning letters from being mailed. If you receive the
third letter, which I presume threatens disconnection, you should write
to the email address in the letter
(CrossConnectionControl at denverwater.org), explain your situation, and
request a further extension.

In other news, I again called Colorado Water Well (CWW) about turning
the well distribution pumps on. Supposedly they are turning everything
on this evening, but I've heard that at least a dozen times before. CWW
will call me when the system is on and I will send out a confirmation to
this list once I hear from them.

Cheers,

Mark Derbyshire
