All:
Several of you have written notes about the erratic problems we've been
having with the wells over the past few weeks. I can only offer my
apologies for not addressing each of you individually.
The problems at first were not well understood because sometimes things
would work and other times not. Finally the Piedmont well had a hard
failure and Colorado Water Well diagnosed an electrical short somewhere
down the well. They will be pulling the pump to trace the problem, and
we are requesting they do this now rather than waiting until spring.
CWW believed the Whitehall well would be able to meet the demand of the
'cool weather' period, as that requires only 7 hours per day instead of
the 10 hour 'hot weather' cycle. Unfortunately this has proved not to
be the case and we regularly run out of water well before the 10:00 am
end time is reached.
Normally we would shut the Holly Mutual system down at the end of
September. However in lieu of the warm weather, little rain and well
problems, we've decided to extend the operation for another two weeks,
until October 15th. Because Whitehall cannot provide sufficient water,
we've asked CWW to readjust the timers to only supply water from 5:00 -
10:00 am. Hopefully this will give those who manually water a fair
crack. Please keep to your watering days as overuse could easily
prevent everyone from getting any water.
Thanks,
Mark Derbyshire
