<BR>Tyler Hughes beat the local Chessmaster, Charles Lawton in Round 4.<BR>The game was up and down close to equal, at the end Charles passed<BR>Tyler on the clock and got smashed. Tyler has 2/4. Charles is a great<BR>big well-loved local black guy with a booming laugh. He was a good<BR>sport in the post-mortem. I was hoping Tyler<BR>would win but the game is dead even and impossible to predict<BR>at this point.<BR><BR>17 ... Bd7<BR><BR>17 ... b5!+= 18 ab ab 19 N:b5?? Qb6+ 20 Kg2 Bd7<BR>wins<BR><BR>18.Kh2!!!<BR><BR>How does he find these moves?<BR>I think the idea is to escape<BR>any ... Qb6+ shots<BR><BR>18 ... Be8 19.Nde4!!<BR><BR>I started to feel good,<BR>it looked like Tyler was squeezing Charles,<BR>sitting on him<BR><BR>19 ... b5!?<BR><BR>Things are not going well so<BR>Charles lashes out, hoping to<BR>unsettle the kid.<BR><BR>20.axb5! axb5! 21.Ra7<BR><BR>Many good ideas here<BR>21 gh!, Qb4!, Ra6!, B:f6!, N:f6!<BR><BR>21 ... b4! 22.Ne2<BR><BR>22 N:f6+!! Qd8! 27.Ng1!!<BR><BR>After all these forced move Tyler has a bind,<BR>not a forced win yet but things are unpleasant<BR>for Mighty Charles.<BR><BR>27. ... Nc8 28.Ra1!!<BR><BR>I don't know how he sees these things but<BR>Tyler starts winding up for a knockout<BR>punch on the f-file. Charles feels the heat<BR>and starts buring up the clock, finding no<BR>defense.<BR><BR>28 ... Be7 29.Nf3!! Bf6 30.Qc2<BR><BR>Emil drives me nuts because he ignores half the 11 boards when he is<BR>commentating, focussing as much as possible on the top boards in his<BR>role as Kamsky's second. However, in the postmortems when the players<BR>are done and come down to discuss the game with Gandmaster Sutovsky<BR>it is obvious he has been following all the games silently because<BR>after it's all over he starts rattling off variation after variation.<BR>It was almost like he was afraid to see a blunder on the lower boards<BR>which would activate his ulcer.<BR>The Grandmaster praised Tyler to his face for this quiet move.<BR><BR>30 ... Kg7 31.Qf2!!<BR><BR>Can you feel the earthquake tremors?<BR>31 g5!! is great too but Tyler wants to<BR>wind up before delivering the knockout punch.<BR>There are a ton of good moves now.<BR><BR>31 ...
