Jackson Chen is an 8 year old Denver wunderkind who has already beaten
James Hamblin ( ex-master ) and Chris Peterson ( future expert )in tournament
play. I played Jackson one slow game and we reached an even ending after 30
moves.
That was scary, almost drawing someone my son's age.
Here's a blitz game between us today for practice.

White - Brian Wall

Black - Jackson Chen

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 Nf6 4. O-O Ng4!!

Fishing Pole

5. h3 h5!!

... h5 is the Fishing Rod

6. d4 exd4 7. hxg4 hxg4

Taking the bait on g4

8. Nh2 Ne5 9. Bf4 Qf6! 10. Bg3 c6 11. Bd3 d6

So the c8-bishop can help out

12. f4!? gxf3!!

Only move

13. Nxf3! Only move Ng4

I have a passion for double Fishing Poles

14. Nh4? Qg5

Even better is 14 ... Qh6!!!
because of the ... g5 threat

15. Qf3

A turning point - 15 Qe1 only leaves me a little better -
I maintain a winning position to the end.

15 ... Be6!! 16. Qf4 Be7

A cute idea, entering a winning Fishing Pole ending -
16 ... Qh5!! is even stronger. Missing many wins but
winning anyway is typical of the Fishing Pole like
no other opening I know.

17. Qxg5 Bxg5! 18. Nf3

I attack both rooks after
18 Nf5 B:f5 19 R:f5 Be3+ 20 Kf1 Bc1!!!

18 ... Be3+!! 19. Bf2 Nxf2!! 20. Rxf2 c5 21. Kf1 Rh1+

Strong but it's funny that the best is to go after the OTHER rook
with 21 ... c4!!! 22 Be2 Bc1!!!

22. Ke2 Bxf2

Strong but again 22 ... c4!!! is best

23. Kxf2! Ke7 24. Ng1 Rah8

The h-file is the Fishing Pole Highway

25. Nd2! a6 26. Ndf3 b5 27. b3 d5 28. exd5! Bxd5!
29. Re1+ Kd6! 30. Re5 Rxg1

An exchanging combination to simplify in time pressure.

31. Rxd5+! Kxd5! 32. Kxg1 c4! 33. bxc4+

Now my rook wreaks havoc on b2

33 ... bxc4 34. Be2 Rb8!! 35. Kf2 Rb2!! 36. Ng5 Rxc2

Crushing and 36 ... d3!!! is even more vicious.

37. Ke1 Rxa2

Crushing and 37 ... d3!!! is even more vicious.

38. Bf3+! Kc5! 39. Nxf7 d3!!
40. Ne5! Kd4!! 41. Nc6+ Ke3!!

{White resigns} 0-1
