One of Brian's bits of advice to me is to attack like a maniac as
opposed to my style of carefully gaining positional advantages,
which when playing an attacker like Tyler does not work too well.
In this game, that was my only objective - attack the king
regardless of what else happens. Mind you, this is a blitz game and
there are plenty of improvements that could and would have happened
if more time was available.
His advice is good. Attack the king. If your opponent does not get
your king first and if your don't simply give your pieces away, your
chances of winning are excellent. Here is the game:

1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 e6 3. e3 c5 4. c3 b6 5. Bd3
I was hoping to fishing pole my opponent after he moves his king
side bishop and castles.
5...Bb7 6. Nbd2 cxd4 7. exd4 Be7
Ok, I can see the fishing pole coming so I'm in waiting mode.
8.b3 O-O 9. Ng5 Nd5
Rats, he didn't play h6! Remember this is blitz and I didn't see
the obvious Bxh7+ which is devestating to Black. I saw the queen
threat which doesn't matter once I check him.
10. h4
I was still hoping for h6 and a fishing pole. In blitz mode missing
plenty, Nxc3 Qc2 looked great to me. Not even seeing that Nxc3
Bxh7+ Kh8 Qh5 is killer.
Nxc3 11. Qc2 Nd5
Now if I could think for a minute or two, I would realize that Ba6
is game over with the threat of mate and taking on b7. But again,
this is blitz.
12. Bxh7+ Kh8 13. Bg8
I couldn't see anything for him after this move. Turns out after
13...f5 14. Nf7+ Rxf7 15. Bxf7 Nf4 or Qf8, he's (or she's) still in
the game and even may have equal chances. The key is keeping my
queen away from the king side for a little bit longer.
13...Nf6 14. Nxf7+ Rxf7 15. Bxf7 Nc6
With the material advantage and Black's king exposed, it would be an
easy win from here in a long game. I should continue in the mode of
attack like a maniac and go after the king with h5, but I thought
bringing my knight closer had to be a good thing. Besides it
protected d4 and let my dark bishop participate.
16. Nf3 Nb4 17. Qg6 Be4
I just plain missed this. I'm clearly losing now. Blitz you know.
18. Qg3 Nc2+ 19. Kf1 Nxa1
As Brian will teach you if you spend any time with him at all,
material is irrelevant when a king attack is underway. So I wasn't
worried about that rook. In fact, I hoped he would waste a tempo or
two taking it. Turns out this is Black's best move and it should
win, but not in a blitz game when your king is under seige.
20. h5
I knew I had to crack open that king like a nut.
20...Rc8
Now I was beginning to worry about a counter attack. In fact, I was
very worried about Qc8 and relieved when he played Rc8. My next
move was designed to shut down his action against my king for a move
or two.
21. Bd2 Bd3+ 22. Kg1 Ne4
Black is hitting the nail on the head. I should be done, but one
slip and I'll win.
23. Qg6
I winced after I made this move. Qf4 would at least give me some
more attacking chances. Now 23...Nxd2 and I begin to defend.
Nxf2? 24. Kxf2!
Black's plan is to win the rook and quiet my attack. Since once I
protect my queen, that's what happens. He likely expected a retreat
like Qg3 or Qg4. It must have been a surprise when I offered, no
begged him to take my queen. My advantage is once again solid and
attack difficult to stop.
24...Bh4+ 25. Rxh4
With only seconds left (though a 12-second increment), I made a
wrong choice here that puts Black right back into it. Nxh4 seals
the deal as Black can't take the queen because hxg6 and the Black
king is toast.
Now after taking the queen, he can sac his and get to an almost even
endgame.
25...Bxg6 26. hxg6+ Qxh4+ 27. Nxh4 Rc2 28. Ke3
Getting out of pins is a high priority for me.
28...Rxa2 29. b4
Fritz calls this position completely dead even. But I'm far more
comfortable in the endgame, so I had high expectations here.
29...Nb3
Nc2+ was much better here after which Nxd4. Subtle mistakes like
this cost him the game.
30. Bc3 Nc1 31. Be8
Instead d5 really activates my pieces and gives me hopes of once
again attacking his king.
31...d6
Here Re2+ sends my king to the king's side rather than the queen
side where the real action will be.
32. Bd7
There were a few moves that were better than this, but when in doubt
attack something.
32...a6
A complete waste. There is no time in chess to give your opponent
free moves. Ok, yeah, it's blitz.
33. Bd2!
By far the best move here. Stopping that lingering Re2+ threat.
33...Nb3 34. Nf3
Completely missing Bxe6. This is second best.
Ra3 35. Ke2 Nxd2 36. Nxd2
I was a little bit worried now that my bishop pair was gone.
36...e5 37. dxe5 dxe5 38. Nc4
Rb3 concerned me here and fortunately, I didn't have to deal with it.
38...Rg3
I was relieved as I wasn't at all concerned on the king side. My
mission was to promote the b-pawn.
39. Nxe5 Rxg2+ 40. Ke3 Kg8 41. Be6+ Kf8 42. Kd4
The king is my most powerful piece now and I need to use it.
42...Ke7 43. Bf7 a5
After exchanging off my b-pawn, the win seemed difficult for me, so
I opted to keep it.
44. b5 Rg5 45. Bc4
A mistake that gave him a chance to get the a-pawn going.
45...Kf6?
I was thrilled to trade my g-pawn for the b-pawn blocking my way. I
could see the light at the end of the tunnel clearly now, though a
bishop and knight ending could easily have happened and in blitz,
that might not be a good thing.
46. Nd7+ Kxg6 47. Nxb6 Kf6 48. Nd5+ Ke6 49. Kc5 Kd7
50. b6 a4
Kc8 was necessary here to stop the pawn and have any chance at all.
51. b7 Rxd5+ 52. Bxd5 Kc7
Black hoped that my bishop was overloaded, but I win by a tempo.
53. Kb4 g5 54. Kxa4 g4 55. Ka5 g3 56.
Ka6 Kb8 57. Bg2 Kc7 58. Ka7 {Black resigns} 1-0
