Dear Gentlemen,

Tim McEntee and I are organizing and hosting a FIDE Swiss Tournament in
Ames, Iowa from Jan. 11-13, 2008. The tournament will be a 16-player,
6-round invitational, with a time control of G/2 with 10 second increment or
delay. We are aiming for 12 FIDE and 4 non-FIDE players. The goal for the
event is to get some competitive, serious games in and also help the
non-FIDE players achieve FIDE ratings.

The entry fee will be $50 and 100% of all entries will be returned as
prizes. The tentative Prize structure is $350-250-150 with a $50 upset
prize.

The tournament will be held at the Memorial Union at Iowa State University.
Because this is a special event, you will need to commit in advance if you
can make it. Entries will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis,
though we will be flexible. If 18 players reply with interest, we will try
to accommodate, even if that means expanding the field and increasing the
prizes. The tournament will be absolutely capped at 20.

If you commit to playing, you need to respond ASAP and mail your entry fee
by December 7th to:

Round times will be: 6:30pm Friday, Jan 11th. 10, 230, and 7pm on Saturday,
Jan 12th, and 10 and 2:30 pm on January 13th.
