[BrianWall-ChessList] Lion Simul, Storyville books

Brian Wall -
Matt O'Hara caged my Raccoon in my Lion simul -
I remember several delusions that had me shaking my head.
The Raccoon is a very dangerous animal-
Whits almost always sacs unsoundly against it.
Your claws have to be razor-sharp for the struggle.
Isaac Martinez, age 10, found the Raccoon typo a month
ago and the publisher corrected it.

Hi Brian!
Thanks for the game. I have attached it as a pgn-file, as I rcall it. It was
distracting, so I may have interchanged some moves. I looked at the book, and
found a typo and some ideas for consideration. The only clear typo was on the
Raccoon, p. 61 left column, gives the move 4.Ke2 in the sentence before, but
puts 4.g3 in the game continuation(The diagram is correct.) The problem with
writing chess books is how to present variations and return to the mainline. I
guess the convention used is to put the diagram at the end of the line. This is
repetitious(p. 62 - 7...h4, 8. Kh3 d5 are given twice), but may avoid
confusion. An asterisk may be useful to indicate where a diagram is being
featured in a line. Page 56 has similar repetion-perhaps 4...Ng8 could be put
in the paragraph without a separate line, and 5.de given a separate line.
Page 30 might read 27.Bf1 over the diagram. I wonder if the Fox opening
should have had the same diagram given
twice. I hope this doesn't sound like nitpicking. You put a lot of work into
your book, and I only offer these suggestions as possible improvements. You
may also want to limit yourself to two diagram sizes.

Matthew
