I had one goal for the Closed -
not to beg Josh for a draw when I played him-
 I couldn't keep my promise-
the final position was promising for Josh but with only 5 minutes left
he decided not to risk losing.
 13 Nd2 B:d4 14 Nc4 B:e3 15 N:b6 B:b6 favors Josh
 very interesting, rich draw
14 ... Qa3 15 N-either-b3 is strong

I got nothing aginst Latvian Jewish tag team partner Steve Twobin.
Steve's cousin Wendy is a good friend of my Mom.
Steve is a 3 time Colorado bullet champ and compulsively
gets in time pressure each game.
with 42 seconds left he played the brilliant 28 ... Kd6!!!
which left me empty after 11 minutes thoughts,
then Steve blundered with 30 ... Rhe8?
instead of 30 ... Ra2 or ... Kc5
So time beat Steve, not me.
Steve wouldn't resign so we delayed the finish.

Daoud proved he belongs in the Closed by drawing Randy Canney and beating young
Tyler Hughes. Defending Champ Jim Hammersmith took out his daylight saving
opponent last year, Josh Bloomer. Most other games were drawn.
