When I trapped Randy's a1 rook with a knight on b1 and a pawn on a3 I thought-
"What a silly thing to let happen".

I never dreamed I would see the same formation in a
category 20 Super tournament between a 2698 and a 2741.
I don't know Carlsen survived this mess.

35 ... R:f3!! 36 B:f3 N:f3+ 37 Kg2 B:e4 probably won for Leko but Kasparov
has already pointed out Leko's well known tendency to win without risky messes.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile the 2006 Tal Memorial endgame tragi-comedies continued when
Grishuk was finally ready to knock out Mamedyarov's Breyer variation
and then messed up an ending with 50 wins. Mamedyarov has 2 wins and
two draws with his Breyer in one month against super players
Judith Polgar, Shirov, Grischuk and Morzevich. Impressive.
